Another Day in the Books

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Hello everyone,

Day two turned out to be better than day one!!  It was the first day getting out of Fairfax and into Washington D.C.  Today we traveled to the Newseum which is one of the newest museums in D.C.  I enjoyed many exhibits at the museum but a few seemed to top my list of favorites.  I enjoyed the exhibit of the Berlin Wall, and the Pultzer Prize Winning photographs.  Today we also uploaded videos of ourselves interviewing another student at the confrence.  I am hoping to get that video on my blog ASAP.

I have met many new friends and realy feel that we are all making friends for a lifetime.  I am looking forward to touring more of D.C. in the next few days.

To all my friends back home:  I hope everyone is doing well!  I am looking forward to seeing everyone when I get back home!!!

Day 1: WJMC

Hello everyone!

Today was a very long but fun and exciting day.  I was up at 3:00 A.M. this morning to head for the Milwaukee airport, which is 3 hours from my home.  After arriving at the airport, I checked in without any troubles and headed for my terminal.  I had about a two hour wait before I would board my plane.  The time seemed to pass by very quickly and soon enough I was boarding flight 261 for Washington D.C.

I sat next to a young man who actualy resides in the D.C. area.  He was very helpful and taught me some new things about flying because he was a pilot himself.  Before long we were already landing at Reagan Airport in D.C.  It was a very short and smooth flight here.  Once I got off the plane, I said goodbye to the new pilot friend I had met and I headed to my baggage claim.  Before long I had my luggage and started to head to the place where somone would be picking me up.  Well…At least I hoped somone would be picking me up.  Luckily, I found the representative and we waited as about ten other kids arrived.

After a short wait, all ten of us got on a bus and headed to George Mason University.  After a twenty minute drive, we arrived on campus.  From the very start of the confrence, I have made new friends, learned new things, and learned much more about Journalism.  I am looking forward to the rest of the week  to make new friends and see what Journalism holds in store for me!

I would like to take this time to thank my mom and dad for giving me the funding to travel and attend this confrence!  Thanks for all of your support!
